前面に連結用のホロの有無で異なる先頭形状のバリエーションを持つ特急型車両。中央線特急あずさ向けに開発され、武田菱をイメージするグラフィックマークをエクステリアとインテリアに配置。大型窓の採用や、荷棚に一体化された空調吹出しなどにより、新しいインテリアイメージを創出した。
An express-type train with a variation of the leading shape that differs with or without the coupling holo on the front. Developed for the Chuo Line limited express train "Azusa," it has a graphic mark on the exterior and interior that resembles the image of the Takeda water chestnut. A new interior image was created through the use of large windows and air-conditioning outlets integrated into the cargo racks.
